Relationships that aren't convenient anymore....
Where do I begin? I didn't plan to date her. My brother had been talking to her sister and was invited to go ice skating in the city on Christmas Day. My brother begged me to go and I eventually went. I met her and from the moment we met we held hands and could not stop talking to each other. Weird huh? She was so sweet and innocent and by the end of the day I knew it was destined to be something great. I asked her to make it official a few days later. It was supposed to be a couple of days later, but her birthday was on the 27th so I unfortunately had to wait till the day after. I asked and she said yes! We dated for a very long time after that. She came from a very strict Filipino/Chinese family. I had no car at the time, but I had a cell phone. We used to meet between school and work by our bus stops. She would go in one direction to her house and I would go in another direction to work. She would sneak me into her house while her parents were at work and she would sneak out at night to see me if I was out with friends. It was all so innocent and fun. Years passed and eventually her mother got sick. I had finished school with a BA in English and had taken a job selling cars for Nissan. We got engaged and plans for a wedding were set forth. That's where all the conflict arose. We had problems with the date we had chosen because it conflicted with my Easter due to the fact that I am Greek Orthodox. Also her parents did not want to step foot into a Greek Orthodox church, don't know why. She was very subservient to her parents. We did whatever made them happy. We decided to hire a deacon (Catholic priest that left the church to get married). One thing led to another and we broke up on Christmas Day 11 years later ironically. It's too much to explain, but it was a conflict between the parents. Finances were basically the issue, sadly enough. We sure had some good times and even after we broke up we continued to see each other. I always struggled with completing my schooling which I fought really hard to finish. I had never been helped by my parents financially and had also done a lot of moving with my twin brother. We had been on our own since we were about 20. It hasn't been easy at all. Let me not get off the subject. She eventually met someone else. Someone who could take care of her and who was financially ready to support her. Here I am alone, financially strapped and nowhere to go. I am estimating that she has known this guy for no longer than 10 months and is already engaged to him. It confuses me very much and even though I think it would be so hard to be together, I am hurt. I feel that people go in the direction that is convenient for them. I am very resilient and will become stronger from this, but in the meantime feel deserted. I know I've been all over the place with this long ass blog, but if anyone out there can reflect on this maybe it can get me to the road of recovery a lot faster than I am.

Blog #8
So being that we finished the powerpoint presentations on religion, I would like to reflect a little bit. First of all I noted that the people that went first that told us about Hindu kind of didn't have their presentation prepared properly. I liked all the presentations a lot. Also the presentation on judaism really impressed me actually beacsue it was very nicely laid out and very organized. I also learned a lot of things I didn't know before. As far as our's was concerned I would've liked it if we were a little more organized, but not even to be bias, I really enjoyed Buddhsim in that it kind of told a person to save themselves from desire before saving the earth. I really belive in the fact that people must try not to overindulge. Spening on things that you don't need or already have should not be made a priority or a sickness. I belive in buying something because you want it and plan to keep it for a while instead of buying something because someone else you know got one and you just feel like you want it. This overbuying and wastefulness really gets on my nerves. I really wish people would start thinking of life as a chance to make the world better and not beat out the next person.

Research Paper
So I have decided to write my paper on the quiet, but obvious tension between the US and Venezuela. I am posting a video that pretty much says that there is a "Dictator" as America calls him, but leader as they see him in Venezuela by the name of Chavez. He plans on selling America oil for much cheaper than Saudi Arabia. The USA wants to quote on quote, take him out. I will look further into more research, but that is all I have found. Please let me hear your opinions and advice. Thanks.

Blog #5
The Site by Chris Jordan really gives a new meaning to "Look Closer" or "You won't believe what you see! He makes pictures out of 1,000's and millions of products we use every day to show us the magnitude of what we're "wasting" and not "using." It is crazy to think that we are spending 1.5 million dollars in Iraq every hour! What??? That's crazy when at the same time he's also letting people know that there are 9 million kids in the US with no health insurance? That makes me mad. It makes me mad to think that we can sit there and take the taxes we're charged to pay for war overseas and not to keep the citizens of America healthy. There's something wrong there. Also, now that I know that it would take a million years for one shopping bag to bio-degrade, I am sickened to think that we still are making them. Why is it that we are still acting like we don't know the fact. We know the facts, but are ignorant and just want to ignore the facts. It's ludacrist to sit there and repeat these wrongdoings every day, day in and day out. Plastic is a great invention yes. I have seen the commercials saying that plastic saves lives. That it's used in Law Enforcement and in automobiles and also in medical procedures, but when you use it for practical things like carrying groceries and putting drinks in, it's insane. We need to go back and redo or rethink or reinvent things.

Blog # 3 ....Big Big Problem!
So, the question was, Which aspect of Global Warming do we think is the worst? Well, what comes to mind when I think of Global Warming is just the main idea of burning fuel. And by burning this fuel we are creating alot of carbon dioxide and adding it to the earth's atmosphere or as we've learned a layer underneath the Earth's atmosphere. So I did a little research and found a couple of solutions that are already taking place to reduce the emissions that are created not primarily by our cars today, but also by inefficient vehicles in other countries especially the third world countries. This particular website talks about the taxis in the Phillipines. These two stroke motorcycles that they use are attached to these cabins that transport people around. They say each one of them produce the emmisions of 50 modern day vehicles and that adds up to the emmissions of 90 millions vehicles in the Philippines alone. This is the link to the website and the information I gave was provided by them.

Another website I looked at was The Discovery channel website, which is one of my favorites. It keeps me updated on what's going on around the world especially this problem of Global Warming. I'm sorry people, but they bring up one good point. America is all about saving that buck and these big corporations that make millions want to make even more than that. They want to reduce the payrolls and offshore jobs to other countries meaning....that they give other poorer countries the position that they could have given an American. I know this subject is a little hairy, BUT the truth is that in China and in India they are producing more than they've ever produced in raw materials and in products that we buy. This is causing them to burn more fossil fuels to keep their factories going, but they are coming in at number one and also at the number three, China at one and India at number three beating out Russia in emmissions according to the Discovery website. I'm sorry, but we live in an age where America is almost the most informed, able to make a change and holds the power to be very influential to what other countries do. We can lead the way. This is also another link to the article I read and all the information provided is from The Discovery Channel website.
